23rd August 2015, TAIPING
It’s definitely “the early bird that catches the worm” as participants gathered in Padang Esplanade, Taiping, at 4am for the Raintown Half Marathon 2015. Organized by Persatuan Kebajikan Masyarakat Taiping and Majlis Perbandaran Taiping (MPT), the event aimed to make Taiping a tourist spot.
The Raintown Half Marathon is to be made into an annual event once it has been slotted into Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture’s calendar, as it is seen to be able to put Taiping on the map, more than just improve the tourism-appeal of the city.
There are three different distance categories: 7km, 10km, & 21km, which were participated by people aging from 13 years old and above. Runners who attended showed great support and love for the city with their participation.
It’s no surprise if the Raintown Half Marathon will reach a point that it will be acknowledged as an international event and will draw international participants.
