Beat yesterday and raise the bar with fenix® 5 Plus series

Kuala Lumpur, 14th August 2018 – For someone who takes his work and play seriously – a commandeering professional on weekdays; a passionate mountain conqueror on weekends – a smartwatch that efficiently keeps your daily businesses in check, as well as your adventures and health on track, is an essential necessity. Hence, look no further to the new fenix® 5 Plus series by Garmin.

To herald its highly anticipated arrival in Malaysia, an exclusive Garmin fenix® 5 Plus series showcase party was held in Kuala Lumpur. The event was a complete forum of an iconic and inspiring name in sports, fitness and lifestyle from GARMIN Malaysia brand ambassadors.

Guests and distinguished members of the media are welcomed by Mr Ong Chang Seng, Managing Director of AECO Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd and given the first-hand encounter on the fenix® 5 Plus and its wonderful functions.

The fenix 5X Plus is Garmin’s first wearable to offer a wrist-based Pulse Ox sensor for blood oxygen saturation awareness. The Pulse Ox Acclimation sensor can be utilised to keep the user aware of their blood oxygen saturation levels, helping them to stay safe when adjusting to higher altitudes. On strenuous climbs, users can stop and take a reading of their body’s oxygen levels to assess how well they’re adjusting to the thinner air.

Built for athletes and adventurers alike, the fenix® 5X Plus series features wrist-based heart rate and all of the multisport and smart connectivity features of the previous fenix® 5 models. Each of the watches in the Plus series also includes built-in map data, optimised for at-a-glance navigation and location tracking. These maps can be used with the round-trip course creator that allows runners and cyclists to enter a distance they would like to run or ride, then select a route from a list of appropriate courses to choose from.

“At GARMIN we don’t just design and sell products; we embrace lifestyles. Today marks a new milestone for GARMIN as we celebrate the birth of new generation of Fenix Series, an innovative creation featuring advanced functionality and sophistication – perfectly befitting GARMIN customers who lead active lifestyle that goes beyond enjoying multisport outdoor adventures, yet thrives on ‘work and play’ – a life-motto that motivates them to beat yesterday and rise to the limits in every facades of life”, said Mr Ong Chang Seng, Managing Director of AECO Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd.

He further added “Our customers in Malaysia will be delighted that we have added new, exciting features to our most popular outdoor GPS wearable series like built-in mapping and music to each new model in the fenix 5 Plus series, and with the introduction of the Pulse Ox feature in the fenix 5X Plus, our customers can now have more confidence in taking their adventures to the next level”.

Combining world-class performance with the best fitness, outdoor and lifestyle features, the fenix® 5 Plus series is a premier multisport gear that is designed with breakthrough features such as built-in routable topographical maps, storage for music playlists and wrist-based Pulse Oximeter for altitude acclimation awareness. Moreover, these rigged yet premium watches come in various sizes (42-51mm) and boast a bright, sunlight-readable display as well as a 1.2-inch feature display – a 20% increase over the fenix® 5S, which means users do not have to sacrifice screen size for a watch ft for smaller wrists.

Constructed from premium-grade materials, the fenix 5 Plus series is available in two distinctive finishes – PVD-coated stainless-steel bezel with silicone watch band or a high-performing titanium bezel version with a brushed titanium bracelet. Each version features a full-colour Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting to assure sunlight readability and is water-rated to 100 meters.

To enable adventurers to delve deeper into the uncharted terrains or the urban environments, every fenix® 5 Plus watch features multi-network satellite reception, now including Galileo to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone. And to keep you company while embarking on that adventure of your lifetime, the fenix® 5S Plus, fenix® 5 Plus, and fenix® 5X Plus offer on-device music storage, up to 500 songs, for phone-free listening. Once the playlist is loaded, simply pair the device with compatible Bluetooth® headphones (sold separately) and start listening.

Being Connect IQ-compatible, users can customise their fenix® 5 Plus series watches with plenty of features such as widgets, data fields, watch faces and apps. When paired with a compatible smartphone4, users can get call, text and email notifications right on their wrist. Additionally, users can customize the look of their watch with QuickFit® bands. Simply swap a silicone band for a leather or titanium strap, no tools necessary. New colours of the QuickFit bands have been added to the Plus series including but not limited to frost blue, seafoam, and solar flare orange.

Furthermore, the fenix® 5S Plus can get up to 6 days in smartwatch mode and up to 4 hours in GPS and Music mode; up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and 7 hours in GPS and Music mode for fenix® 5 Plus; and up to 18 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and 11 hours in GPS and Music mode for fenix® 5X Plus. Users can also take advantage of the UltraTrac™ power saver mode to extend battery life even more.
