Three thousand runners took the streets of Penang island in the first ever Garmin road race in Asia. The half marathon Garmin Malaysia for Runners attracted not only the locals but foreign runners from the USA, Australia, the UK, the Philippines, France, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Singapore and many more.
Garmin chose Penang as its first venue of the road race in Asia for the islands’ foods, attractions, scenic routes and heritage. On top of that, participants received an event T-shirt, eCertificate and a medal in the shape of the Garmin Forerunner 920XT GPS watch. The event also saw the organizers donated RM33,000 to five local non-governmental organizations in addition to lucky draw for participants.
