Alzheimer’s disease is single-handedly the most common type of dementia. Most people have either heard of Alzheimer’s or know someone who has it, but what is it exactly? It is a progressive disease in nature whose symptoms include memory loss and inability to converse as well as appropriately respond to one’s surroundings.
Running is considered one of the most popular forms of physical activity and if you’re a runner here is a new piece of information that has started to come to light. New studies have found that running lowers the chances of developing the progressive brain disorder that a large number of people suffer from.
To date, there are no concrete and effective treatments to stop the development of Alzheimer’s. The study showed that having a higher cardiorespiratory fitness level reduced the risk of developing the progressive disease. The theory that you can significantly reduce your risk by simply increasing your activity level is big news and a promising new finding.
Here are our top 3 guidelines to get your fitness level back on track
1) Goal Setting
Having goals both long and short will allow you to know what you are working towards. Simply doing exercise with no direction is not sustainable in the long run and will not allow for progression which is the key to improving overall fitness level.

2) Consistency
Creating a program to follow, will allow for better time management and to create a routine to be accounted for. That way you will be more consistent, and consistency is the name of the game. Consistency is often synonymous with discipline, and with discipline is when you can stick to your fitness goals in the long run.
3) Dieting
Diet must be factored in when developing a routine or program to follow. The ratio is 30% exercise and 70% diet. Many people may do regular exercise but see very few improvements. Diets are the main reason which hinders the speed at which you see improvements. It is counterintuitive to do the exercise but put bad food or fuel into your body.

Although the study had its limitations, one thing we can all agree on is that an increase in physical activity brings a lot of benefits that you can take advantage of. From staying fit, and confident and even reducing your risks to an array of health issues. There you have it, that should be enough to get you back on improving your fitness level and being the best version of yourself.
