9th August 2015, KUALA LUMPUR
More than 9,500 participants were gathered at Padang Merbok for the first ever ASEAN Unity Run, organized by Aman Malaysia, in support of a healthier Malaysia and other countries from ASEAN region.
The event allowed people of all ages and ASEAN nationalities to have fun and participate in the 7-category activities, in spirit of unity.
ASEAN Unity Run was divided into competitive and non-competitive categories, fun run for kids, and “Lend Your Body”- a campaign for the disabled to experience running by being pushed in wheelchairs by local celebrities. The aim of the Lend Your Body run was to create awareness and break the stigma against disabled people in Malaysia and across the ASEAN region.
There were food stalls and pavilions representing Ministry bodies, sponsors and associations, not to mention carnival booths offering fun family entertainment and a lucky draw that gave all participants a chance to be a winner.
