These days there’s a misconception of runners associate being lighter with being faster, and it is unhealthy physically and mentally as a result.
People in the running community may have made comments on your size and weight in order to run well, it is not the case. You should embrace the body you have and be comfortable in your own weight, the weight does not define how good or bad of a runner you are.
In fact, running can be very rewarding and beneficial to everyone. It only takes actions and consistency of sticking to a plan for you to be a better runner than yesterday.
So, if you’re looking to adopt a healthy lifestyle and work towards being a better runner, here’s what you can do!
1. Sign Up For A Marathon
Running a marathon is a great way to boost confidence because you are working towards a finish line and it is a rewarding goal. Take that first step and sign up for a marathon with a distance of your likings, such as a 5km, 10km, 24km, or even a fun run, and finding a training plan.
An example, American distance runner Allie Kieffere, proved that weight doesn’t define you as a runner by placing fifth at one of the biggest marathon events called the New York City Marathon.

2. Set Small & Tiny Weekly Goals
Firstly, plan out, when, where, what time, and the purpose you are training. The purpose of your training is important, as it keeps you motivated and helps you work towards it.
By setting small and consistent daily goals will keep you accountable when life throws you with speed bumps and curveballs.
Also, understand each athlete has their own specific training plans, workout habits, and coaches and we shouldn’t compare it.

3. Start Looking In The Mirror And Love What You See
Now, every time you catch your reflection in the mirror, say something good about yourself. By celebrating the little things will change your life and your confidence as a runner.
By treating yourself with respect, you are already the best version of yourself possible.
