BEING PART OF CARE2RUN is a very rewarding experience becauseit is a one-on-one mentoring program, which generally aims to use another way of teaching. We used a psychological way instead, because some of the students came from an unfortunate family so they might appear to have tendencies to cause trouble, misbehave and displays defiance. In order to prevent that every Saturday morning we conduct this 2-hour mentoring sessionthat composed of physical activities like running relay event, nowadays, this is quite popular in Malaysia and guidance on how to behave properly, to be a good person, even to teach the right courtesy. Some of the mentors are also runners like me, who volunteers, we want to share what knowledge we have to help these kids. We don’t only run for ourselves, we also run for others.
I GOT MY INSPIRATION whenever “I’m able to run faster, I enjoy the speed that I have in myself, I want to release it to make me better”, I always have this desire to be the fastest man, like the FLASH! *laughs* I hope to be able to be–yeah to be the fastest man in long distance running, in 5000m and 10000m, first in Malaysia, then slowly Asia then so on and so forth. *smiles widely*. That’s why I’m pushing myself this hard.
MY PIECE OF ADVICE TO THE YOUNG ASPIRANTS “I will recommend they take running as one of the sports, let’s say if they are interested in badminton, basketball or any other sports, I will recommend them to take running, because running is the most basic sports for every sports, you do basketball–you need to run, you do football–you need to run and you do rugby–you need to run”. Because running is a strong footing to build your aerobic base and endurance for you to be able to sustain longer. Apart from that, “Sports can make a person more disciplined” He added further.
MY RUNNING AMBITION AND FUTURE GOALS hopefully is to hit Malaysia’s 5,000 and 10,000m national record which is about 29-minute and 40-minute plus. I just want to break the record for the long distance in track. As for my running goals 5 years from now I believe I’m still running, I still be able to run fast and be a record breaker, perhaps. Then, after 10 years I might be a lecturer in the University, my dream is to further my study after I completed my degree I will have my Masters and PhD in Sports Science—exercise physiology.
