3. Remember, it’s for the krew. We’ve gotten the pleasure of meeting a few big players in the scene. That is the biggest thing that has happened to me and the crew. Being able to meet the important people and learn how their brand works is a privilege. How many people you know get this opportunity? The benefits and knowledge I get allows me to elevate the crew’s profile and honestly that puts us in this position now. The offers we’ve been receiving are amazing, but at the end of the day you have to remember who the decision is for.

Each brand will have their aim and expectations when they agree to meet us. Everything is so tempting but of course we have our own preference. Some offers may seem more attractive than others. Their motives may be different but as a team you should just stick to what you stand for, never let the appealing offers change your initial mission. Be professional and remember the reasons you started.

I may not get the benefit I want but if my decision can help the crew as a whole, that’s plenty. Do what is right, they will see the value the crew holds and if it’s right, no one is at the loosing end. Good things will happen, so never sacrifice your team just for your own personal gain.

The changes we made take time to develop. As we mature, we learn. As an individual, I’ve grown so much. Many of my qualities are gained from my experiences handling the krew. It’s not about the credentials, it about the passion and I fought for it because I believed in it. The crew takes into account all comments and suggestions they get, it gives people that sense of belonging, which is very important as we understand that we need them in order for Kyserun Krew to grow and sustain.

It’s been more than a year now since I became one of the operational committee. Committing was never easy especially with my life transition after graduating with an Accounting and Finance degree, but seeing how I could change people’s life, I find it satisfying. How I do everything is no secret and perhaps not really a foolproof strategy but it works for us.

Kyserun Krew made me who I am today. The Yasmin today is more confident to speak in front of a crowd and organize events for a big group. The movement teaches me that it’s okay to be different because my specialty may just be the piece of the puzzle that others need.
