On 17th March 2019, adidas Malaysia celebrated a new running experience at the first ever Recode Running Festival. The celebration was championed by the new adidas Ultraboost 19 which offered runners an experience like no other in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
The Recode Running Festival is a celebration of a new urban running culture that is driven by the community and creative expression. Attended by over 200 people – adidas consumers, members of adidas Runners Kuala Lumpur, adidas Creators and friends of the media gathered at the Slate @ The Row from as early as 6am until the event ended at 10am.
Guided by the District Race app, runners needed to earn as many points, badges and rewards within one hour while finding joy in discovering and uncovering hidden gems in the city, thus bringing this ‘new running’ experience to life.

Review of adidas Ultraboost 19
To find out how the Ultraboost 19 performed, we were flagged off and given an hour to reach various checkpoints and complete challenges by answering questions and performing different runs. The running event took runners along the streets of the city of Kuala Lumpur.
Runners came together taking through Jalan Ampang, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Munshi Abdullah as well as popular landmarks such as Masjid Jamek, Sogo shopping mall, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Bukit Nanas, KL Tower and the Kuala Lumpur City Theatre on Jalan Raja.
Running the city was nothing but amazing. There is 20% more Boost in the midsole of the updated Ultraboost, which makes it more responsive and breathable, and durable. Adidas has added the extra foam without increasing the weight of the shoe, which tips the scales at 310g.
In addition to its midsole, this high-performance running shoe delivers unrivaled comfort and energy return. The lightweight and propulsive shoes have a seamless knit upper, the Primaknit 360 upper is now a full sock that wraps the foot and has targeted areas where more support is provided to keep the foot in place.
The plastic midfoot cage has been removed from the shoe too and replaced with a mesh that doesn’t irritate in the way the cage could.
The Ultraboost 19’s Torsion System is a lightweight construction for enhanced support on landing and a snappy transition to propel runners forward. This is no longer a full piece of plastic, but instead an updated 3D heel frame – a stripped-back design cradles the heels for adaptability and support, which gives your heel room to expand upon landing into the gaps where plastic previously restricted its movement. The idea is to add comfort while still providing stability around the heel.
Apart from running comfortably in Recode Running Festival, I wore the Ultraboost 19 for workouts, specifically easy runs and speed runs. I can confidently say the Ultraboost 19 is a real, ideal running shoe.
Because of its snug and breathable upper, I also take this shoe out for everyday routines. The Ultraboost 19 feels just comfortable and non-irritating to the skin. Last but not least, the shoe gives great aesthetic pleasure that makes it versatile footwear for any occasions from workouts, urban adventures, errand running, to shopping.
