The ASICS GEL CUMULUS 21 is an everyday running shoes that provides a long-lasting cushioning from long distances, speed workouts and recovery.
However, this shoe is designed to celebrate the retro style of the historic Japanese capital where it reflects the era of the street life in Tokyo around the time of the 1964 summer games.
Here’s what you need to know about this edition from the ASICS’s family.
Gel Technology Cushioning System
While this shoe looks bulky, this shoe is ideal for runners who want supportive cushioning that outlasts the run. It’s stiff but well-cushioned with two layers of foam and a line of Gel on the lateral side of the heel. The cushioning is perfect for heel strikers as it has less cushioning from midfoot forward.
Flytefoam Propel Technology
One area where this shoe truly stands out is its’ stability. The shoe’s heel is firm and prevents your foot to have side-to-side movements while keeping the heels and ankle aligned. Besides that, the ankle collar and tongue are lined with thick foam for comfort which gives needed support on uneven surfaces.
Jacquard Mesh Upper
With a stretchy mesh upper, cushy midsole and padded collar, the Gel Cumulus 21 is indeed a comfortable trainer. The mesh upper is breathable yet flexible enough to give comfort to the foot and provides some extra comfort by the midsole.
ASICS uses high abrasion runner which leads to excellent durability and the outsole has full ground contact. Having said that, after running long milage with this shoe, the lettering hasn’t begun to peel off and the outsole hasn’t started to crumble. It helps to reduce the damage caused by excessive wear.
