For 2017, E-Plus will also be in introducing a Powerkids category, which is basically shorter distance races of the same run-bike-run format for kids aged 5 to 12.

Iskandar added that “Powerkids allow parents who participate in Powerman to inculcate healthy lifestyle habits with their kids. Running and cycling are basic sports that kids usually embark their sports journey on. Having a Powerkids category will enhance family bonding time for both parents and kids on the weekend which is on the 3rd and 4th of March”.

If the Powerkids category proves successful, E-Plus plans to add more categories in the future which will include Poweryouths and corporate categories. “We do have plans to grow the Powerman World Series in Malaysia further, but we are taking delicate baby steps to ensure that the growth can match with safety as that is our top priority, as well as a high standard of competitiveness and hospitality for the participants and their supporters.

While E-Plus has carved its name in the entertainment industry, FIM Asia Supermoto championships and its very own Melaka Art Festival, it is still a relatively newcomer in mass participation sports. In addition to the Malaysia Book of Records recognition, Powerman Malaysia also garnered success overseas. Powerman Malaysia 2016 was nominated as a finalist in the recent regional Sports and Industry Awards ‘Best Mass Participation Event of the Year’ category. The race director, Iskandar Shahril was awarded the global ‘Powerman Ambassador Award’ and for the very first time a ‘Powerman Award’ was presented to a host city – Putrajaya.

Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships 2017 is organized by rights and license holder, E-Plus Global Sdn Bhd; sanctioned by the International Powerman Association and the Triathlon Association of Malaysia; supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia Major Events, Malaysia Truly Asia, Perbadanan Putrajaya, Dorsett Putrajaya, Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside, The Everly Hotel Putrajaya, Spacebib, Train Live Compete, HIGH5, Shinjiru, Spacebib, RunSociety, Beyond Ultron Sdn Bhd, Rudy Project, Suunto, 2XU Compression, iM4U, Running Malaysia Magazine and Cycling Malaysia Magazine.
