Trail Running Essentials
Trail running is one of the simplest ways to explore the mountains and backcountry with your own two feet. But like any wilderness mission, it requires savvy preparation and right gears. That’s why for Michelle she tends to make sure that she brings all the necessary gear before she hits the muddy ground.
Being self-sufficient, Michelle shares that hydration bag and energy bar are on her top list if she could just bring five things to the trail. Time seems to pass faster in the woods that’s why GPS Watch is a second must-bring item for Michelle just so she can gauge distance and time. Next will be Identification Card or Medical Card. “Whatever trail running race I participated in I always bring my identification or medical card because I don’t know what might happen along the way. Better be prepared with anything” she added
Exploring the woods won’t be complete if you’re not rocking a trail running shoes as you pace the earthen path. For Michelle, Columbia Fluidflex™ F.K.T is her all-time favorite shoe. This shoe delivers the perfect blend of breathability, fit, traction and a right amount of flexibility to touch the ground and go, which she most likely preferred.
“Take nothing but picture, leave nothing but footprints and kill nothing
but time” this well-known adage to hikers or trail runners never gets old. Michelle puts a strong emphasis on the trail etiquettes. Love the trails and they will love you back.
The Trail Within
There may be a number of factors that keep us from making positive changes we desire in our lives. There is fear, complacency, laziness, distractions and negative peer pressure. But for most of us, the inability to change the course of our lives boils down to one thing: The change seems too difficult. And as a result, we simply don’t know where to start.
For Michelle, you don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. Just one small step down the right path is all you need to start heading in the right direction. And just how she embraces trail running, she took this road less travelled because for her everyone needs to start somewhere. “You don’t have to be good to start but start to be good. If you wait for things to be good, then you can’t start,” Michelle said with a smile. Just start small. You don’t have to start with a big step.
With her favorite trail running shoes laced up and hydration bag on the back, this girl is pretty much ready to go on the trail and keep running!
