WORTH THE FIGHT

The fight was long and gruelling but in the end, the Pahang government caved in. Yet, for Bukhari, their ecological battle won’t stop there. Their commitment to saving the rainforest and protecting the environment is never-ending. Following the success to save the Merapoh caves, they now want to develop the socio-economy of Merapoh through eco-tourism as an alternative and additional source of income to the local residence.

“We cannot just ignore it. We want to strengthen their eco-tourism, so the whole world will know about Merapoh. If this became successful, we want to hand the event back to the locals so that the profit will go directly to them.” Bukhari utters.

Feeling slightly overwhelmed? Not to worry, as this warm-hearted man has also developed the Running Project under 10 Senses. The running project is about discovering running talents and potentials. If they happen to find a talented runner, the project will train and fund the runner to run not only locally but on international stage as well. This project is also Bukhari’s way of encouraging the local people of Merapoh to engage into running. He has hopes that this will give them more inspiration to run.

Saving our environment, lifting people out of poverty and advancing economic growth are just a few initiatives that Bukhari puts under his sleeve. His social responsibility is very apparent that he’s doing everything in his power to make a difference.

“We want to give back to the community. We are human that need to give something to human. It’s a helping hand.” Bukhari said. This good man proves that some angels don’t need wings.
